Newsletters: Forward From Another Inbox

Keep a newsletter subscription where it is and send a copy of each edition on to Krystalyz.

Forwarding is the route to take when you would rather not change the address a newsletter is sent to — because the subscription is shared, because the publisher makes it hard, or because you want to keep your own copy.

Krystalyz walks you through it in the app: Settings → Newsletters → Forward from another inbox. This page covers the same ground.

Gmail

Gmail has a guided flow in the app, because Gmail sends a confirmation message to the address you add — and that message lands at Krystalyz, not with you. The setup screen waits for it and shows you the code.

  1. In Gmail on the web, open Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP and click Add a forwarding address.
  2. Paste your Krystalyz address, click Next, then Proceed.
  3. Leave the Krystalyz setup screen open. When Gmail's confirmation message arrives, the code appears there, usually within a minute, along with a button that opens Gmail's confirmation page.
  4. Back in Gmail, open Filters and Blocked Addresses and create a filter matching the newsletters you want in Krystalyz — by sender, or by words they have in common. Choose Forward it to and pick your Krystalyz address.

Forwarding everything works too, but a filter keeps the rest of your mail out of Krystalyz.

Other providers

The shape is the same everywhere:

  1. Find forwarding in your provider's settings — usually under Forwarding, Filters or Rules.
  2. Add your Krystalyz address as the forwarding destination.
  3. Most providers then send a confirmation message to it. It shows up in Settings → Newsletters → Recent arrivals, where you can open it and follow the link or copy the code inside.
  4. If your provider has filters or rules, use one so that only your newsletters are forwarded.

The confirmation message is an arrival like any other

Krystalyz keeps every message the address accepts, including the ones that never become feed items. If a confirmation code does not appear automatically, it is in Recent arrivals.

Daily limits

Each address enriches a set number of newsletters a day. Past that, editions still arrive and stay readable — they are simply not summarised or clustered until the next day. Settings → Newsletters shows the day's usage.

If your address starts receiving unusual volume, Krystalyz says so and offers to change it. The old address keeps accepting mail and quietly discards it, so nothing bounces.
